Pipeline Maintenance

Schneider Pipeline Maintenance services include line location services and maintenance and lubrication of pipeline valves as well as pipeline pigging. A pig is defined as "A device that moves through the inside of a pipeline for the purpose of cleaning, dimensioning, or inspecting." When the pipeline is in service, it is necessary to pig the line to maintain line efficiency and aid in the control of corrosion. Pigging is also necessary to remove the liquids in wet gas systems and remove accumulated water in product pipelines.

"Pigging in the maintenance of pipelines refers to the practice of using pipeline inspection gauges or 'pigs' to perform various operations on a pipeline without stopping the flow of the product in the pipeline. Pigs get their name from the squealing sound they make while traveling through a pipeline. These operations include but are not limited to cleaning and inspection of the pipeline."
